The Hastings Direct International Ladies Championships return to Devonshire Park Eastbourne this summer for the 32nd consecutive year. From Saturday 17th 24th June some of the worlds best female players will be battling it out on centre court in what promises to be another smashing event.

Last year saw the title claimed by Kim Clijsters after a tense game with Vera Douchevina. World Number one, Current Champion and reigning US Open winner, Miss Clijsters is expected to return to Eastbourne this year to defend her title at the most prestigious pre Wimbledon grass court games.

Eastbourne Borough Council Assistant Director of Tourism, Keith Morrison says, We are looking forward to once again welcoming Tennis finest female players to Eastbourne. The beautiful surroundings of the town make this an ideal location for tennis fans to relax and enjoy a week of world class action.

The prestigious Silver Bowl and over $500,000 of prize money has always drawn in a star-studded line up, with previous winners including legends Martina Navratilova, Tracy Austin and Lindsay Davenport. Championship organisers LTA and sponsors, locally based motor insurance provider Hastings Direct, are this year offering half price centre court tickets and a free ground pass for children under 16, when accompanied by a paying adult.

Last year 5520 tennis balls were used during the week, 4,100 litres of water were consumed by the players and 1888 kilos of strawberries were chomped by spectators, sweetly topped off with 518 litres of cream!
