Eastbourne Boasts England’s Only 5-Star Seaside Hotel
Known as the White Palace, the luxury 5-star Grand Hotel on Eastbourne seafront has been named as England’s only 5-star seaside hotel
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Susan Morris said “For Eastbourne to be known as the country’s only seaside resort with a 5-star hotel is absolutely fantastic news and something we are very proud of. The Grand Hotel offers very high standards for every guest, with brilliant restaurants, comfortable rooms, and a vast range of facilities. With forecasters predicting a surge in UK holidays this year, The Grand is certainly well positioned to offer a first class holiday experience in England.”

A magnificent Victorian hotel, The Grand stands in a superior seafront position in the UK’s sunniest resort, overlooking the town’s beautiful beaches and to the right, the start of the new South Downs National Park.

With 152 rooms, excellent leisure facilities including an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and celebrating the 20th anniversary of its award-winning Mirabelle Restaurant earlier this year, The Grand Hotel offers a top representation of English hospitality.

A survey carried out by Retail Active earlier this year reported that despite the potential rise of the staycation, several British establishments did still offer a ‘Fawlty Towers’ experience. On the contrary, Eastbourne’s Grand Hotel is setting an example in how to do things properly and encourage domestic tourism.

Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator at the Grand Hotel, Jackie Webley said “The Grand Hotel is very much a team effort with every member of staff striving to do his or her best, whether they are in a high profile position working front of house or in a job where they rarely meet guests face to face. Being named as England’s only 5-star seaside hotel is a credit to their work and we’re delighted to help put Eastbourne and English tourism in the spotlight.”

With Eastbourne keen to maximise the potential for an influx of domestic tourism during 2009, the resort is using its tourism website to encourage visitors to make the most of their stays while saving money too.

The website has launched brand new special offer pages to promote money-saving deals at hotels and guesthouses as well as offer downloadable discount vouchers for use at attractions and restaurants in the town.
