Defending champion Chanda Rubin will be looking for a hat-trick of titles at the Hastings Direct International Championships after announcing that she will return to Eastbourne, 14 - 19 June, 2004.
Defending champion Chanda Rubin will be looking for a hat-trick of titles at the Hastings Direct International Championships after announcing that she will return to Eastbourne, 14 - 19 June, 2004.

The world number 12 and defending champion who recently reached the quarter finals of the Australian Open, provided a memorable match for tennis fans last year, after her semi-final comeback against Jennifer Capriati, winning in three sets, despite Capriati holding two match points in the second.

Rubin overcame former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez in the final to lift her second Hastings Direct International Championships title, sponsored by the Sussex based motor insurance provider.

Former Wimbledon semi-finalist Jelena Dokic also announced today that she will be joining the growing line up of stars at the tournament. The 21 year old big hitter from the baseline, burst onto the world scene at Wimbledon in 1999, spectacularly beating the then World No. 1 Martina Hingis and has since defeated Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters.

In fact, both Ladies have registered some impressive wins during their careers with Rubin also clocking up wins against Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport and World no.1 Justine Henin-Hardenne.

To celebrate the news of the defending champion’s return, the Corporate Hospitality team have today announced they are keeping hospitality packages at 2003 prices for all those booking before 31 May 2004.
