The owners of the Eastbourne Arndale Shopping Centre have confirmed they are working in partnership with Eastbourne Borough Council to explore plans to double the size of the current shopping centre.

The Performance Shopping Centre Limited Partnership, owner of the Eastbourne Arndale Shopping Centre, has signed a Co-operation Agreement with the local council.

Partnership spokesman David Waterworth said, “We are delighted to be working with Eastbourne Borough Council on such exciting plans for the town centre.

“Over the coming months we will be working closely with them to develop a scheme which will not only put Eastbourne back on the region’s retail map, but offer great economic, social and community benefits to the area.”

Eastbourne Borough Council Leader, Cllr Ian Lucas, said: “The Council is delighted to have made a significant step towards delivering our vision for the regeneration of our town centre.

“It will generate a significant number of new jobs and be a major boost for the local economy. Together with our new partners, we will be working swiftly to prepare a scheme that the community can be proud of, Cllr Lucas said.”
