Invigorating Winter Breaks in Eastbourne
Eastbourne is offering an action packed season of walking, mountain biking, site seeing and much more that is bound to keep you nice and warm this winter.

Set at the foot of the spectacular South Downs, Eastbourne boasts sea, sunshine, events and activities all year round. Explore hidden villages, castles and gardens or take part in outdoor pursuits along the seafront and across the downs, there really is something for everyone in Eastbourne this winter.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said, Eastbourne is a wonderful place to visit at all times of year but nothing quite beats wrapping up warm and spend a winters day exploring the array of attractions Eastbourne and the surrounding area has to offer. With eight miles of glorious coastline from the largest marina in the country; Sovereign Harbour, to the spectacular white cliffs of Falling Sands, a multitude of picturesque villages and stunning scenery, Eastbourne really is magnificent place to visit at this time of year.

Eastbourne enjoys many world-renowned gardens within easy reach and nine historical castles throughout Sussex. Amongst those is Pevensey Castle just 8 miles from Eastbourne and the magnificent moated Herstmonceux Castle and Science Observatory set in beautiful parkland and superb Elizabethan gardens, both well worth a visit.

For those looking for a gentle get away, why not take part in a guided walk or environmental event that offers winter bird watching or meeting the heavy horses at Wilderness Wood. If you prefer your own adventure, hire a mountain bike around Friston Forest and the meandering Cuckmere River or really get in the winter spirit and try your hand at skiing and snowboarding at Knockhatch Ski Centre, Hailsham less than 10 miles outside Eastbourne.

You can enjoy your Winter Escape staying at The Grand Hotel, Eastbournes elite five star seafront hotel where you will be welcomed by the roaring fire in the Great Hall and luxurious and cosy rooms. Treat yourself to a pampering treatment in the magnificent health club after a hike on the downs or sit and enjoy complimentary hot buttered crumpets and toasted teacakes.
