Magnificent Motors pulled in record crowds over the Bank Holiday weekend as 30,000 people headed to Eastbourne seafront for the largest free motoring extravaganza on the South Coast.

A spectacular cavalcade opened the show with vintage and classic cars, motorcycles, steam engines, buses, military vehicles and bikes all joining in the procession along the seafront, before pulling onto the lawns to park up in the bank holiday sun.

Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism, Economy & Environment, Norman Kinnish says, To see families and visitors of all ages enjoying themselves is fantastic, and I would like to thank everyone who brought their vehicle to Eastbourne for making the weekend such a success.

Over 500 vehicles were on display, with numerous car clubs including the classic Austin 7s, Sussex Minis and a group of shiny BSA bikes. The unexpected arrival of the stunningly restored 1899 Parisienne Voiturette was a delightful surprise, proving to be as popular as ever amongst the crowds, as were the traction engines chugging along the streets with puffs of steam.

Organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, in association with the Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club, East Sussex Omnibus Society and East Lancs Coach Builders, the seafront was a hive of activity over the weekend. Many hotels were full as visitors flocked from across the region, and the Tourist Information Centre reported over 1000 enquiries on Saturday due to the increased footfall across the town.

The promenade bustled with the stalls of the popular French Market and funfair rides filled the Wish Tower Slopes. Vintage bus services, miniature railway rides, craft markets and live music ensured there was entertainment for the whole family over the two day festivities.

On the Sunday evening, thousands of people headed for the Bandstand to see the Festival of Fire light up the night sky. Organised by local fire troupe, Fireflies, live entertainment performed throughout the evening and crowds were wowed with a finale of Maori style Poi dancing, stilt walkers and fireworks.
