Make a Dash for Local Restaurants

Eastbournes town centre precinct can look forward to super quick service on Sunday 8 October, as local restaurants race against each other in the Feastbourne Waiters Dash competition.

Part of new food and drink festival, Feastbourne, teams will be required to set their table to five star standards and serve a team of hungry judges while running a relay race but can only bring one item at a time! With awards for the quickest team, the winning restaurant can look forward to prizes which include a free meal for four at Flava, free tickets to Eastbourne Beer Festival and a feature in the Eastbourne Herald.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said This looks set to be a great fun event both for those taking part and those cheering from the sidelines. Feastbourne is all about celebrating food and drink and most importantly increasing awareness of the superb restaurants and produce we have here in Eastbourne and Sussex.

Feastbourne runs from 12 22 October at various venues throughout Eastbourne, featuring a wide range of events from wine tasting and real ales, to Produce on the Prom, Fishcapades at Sovereign Harbour, an Elizabeth David tribute dinner, a series of cookery master classes and a Grand Hotel candlelit dinner and wine cellar tour. The event ends on Sunday 22 October with an indulgent master class and tasting session in chocolate from a Master Chocolatier.

Feastbourne is sponsored by Cooden Cellars, University of Brighton, Glyndebourne, SCS Marketing, Grand Hotel, The Waterfront, Eastbourne Hospitality Association, Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce and The Sussex Wine Company and supported by Eastbourne Borough Council.

The Waiters Dash starts at 11am on Sunday 8 October and entry is completely free. To enter a team of four contact Jayne Howard on 01323 415442 or e-mail [email protected]. Entries close 5 October.
