Town FC Slump out of RUR Cup
3 November - Eastbourne Town 0 Eastbourne United 2 RUR Cup
On a cold night with fireworks going off throughout the game, Town slumped out of the sussex RUR cup with a whimper more than a bang .
United were well worth their 2-0 win , and goals in each half from ex townies Sam Crabb and Brad Manton sealed the Town sides fate .
It was a fairly even opening start to the game, both teams tried to play good football, but United were always far quicker to the ball, and their pace seemed to be their main weapon of attack .
Town though kept the ball for long periods without really threatening the United goal, and just before half time, United made them pay with the first goal of the game. A long ball out of defence found Manton, he played the ball past the last defender, and Crabb reacted first to stick the ball past Nessling .
The second half was a poor performance by Town, possibly their worst of the season, They never really got to grips with united's determination and it was another ex townie that scored United' s second .
Crabb got away down the left flank, the ball was crossed into the path of Manton, he jinked inside the Town defender, and planted the ball into the back of the net .
The rest of the match was an anti climax as far as Town fans were concerned, i just do not know what it is about us playing at the Oval, maybe its the lack of atmosphere which we generate at the Saffrons, but whatever it is, that's 2 years running we have played at the Oval and come away losing and playing badly, lets hope this sparks towns season back into life like last time when we stayed unbeaten for 11 games after Xmas .
