Eastbourne Town FC Win Again
3 March - Eastbourne Town 2 East Preston 0
Two first half goals by Town, the first a shot by Liam Baitup that rounded off a good Town move after 16minutes, followed by a Gary Brockwell fiercely struck drive from the edge of the penalty box after 34, were enough to see Town home safely for three league points at East Preston on Saturday.
Town completely dominated the first half on a heavy pitch and although East Preston came more into the game in the second period the score rightly reflected the balance of play throughout.
East Preston worried Town just once throughout the match when a well struck free kick round Town's wall in the second period hit the upright and rebounded safely away.
Another bright spot of the afternoon for Town was the introduction of three Town up and coming young stars. Previous appearances from Nathan Millroy were added too in this game with a further call on his services to replace Mark Goodwin who seemed to suffer a cramp attack.
Further introductions of Sussex Under 18 player James Monk for Steven Dallaway and Matt Aldred for Andy Ducille shows Towns Management Team are watching over the development of Towns pool of youth talent and are not afraid to blood these youngsters in a gradual way.
Remaining untried is Zak Attwood who this week only warmed the subs bench. He has though been showing good form in Town's youth side.
Man of the match for me was Andy Ducille whose tireless midfield play showed he can still demonstrate class.
This win took Town level on points with Crowborough at the top of the Sussex County League.
Crowborough managed a goalless draw at Selsey.
Crowborough hold sway currently with a more positive goal difference, although Town still hold three games in hand on their opponents.
