Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club in Bid to Launch the Next Tim Henman
The Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club opens its grass courts for the 2004 season on 24th April at the International Lawn Tennis Centre with specially subsidised membership packages for children and families.
By offering low cost membership, more events and coaching for the first time ever, the Club, in a joint venture with Eastbourne Borough Council, hopes to produce players for the future who may even achieve the same success as current British number ones Tim Henman and Anne Keothavong.

Under 18s can enjoy membership at just 25 for the season, or a family of four with two adults and two children aged under 16 can enjoy a total membership package of just 100. Special discounts also operate for students and players with disabilities with a membership rate of just 35.

To launch the new style membership and coaching, the club are holding a launch evening on 23rd April with complimentary buffet at 7.30pm at the International Lawn Tennis Centre for all members and prospective members. An open day follows on 24th April at 2pm where anybody can try out the facilities for free.

Members can enjoy a game of tennis on one of the most prestigious courts in the world with on site changing rooms and shower facilities. The club is providing its own qualified coach for the first time ever to help all members improve their game and provide a series of competitive events such as the junior club tournament from 9 14 August.

Members who wish to attend the Hastings Direct International Championships from 12 19 June, also receive concessions as part of the membership package.

Club Secretary Mike Hanlon said It is our strong intention to provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for players of all standards and ages in first class surroundings at a very affordable price. By providing special junior and family rates along with coaching facilities, we also hope to encourage more children and families to take up the game, which can only benefit the local community and the future of British tennis.

The season continues through to 5th September and standard adult membership costs 113. Alternatively for those who prefer to enjoy only the occasional game, court hire is available at 12 per court per hour.

To join the club or reserve your place at the launch event on 23rd April, telephone Membership Secretary Mike Hanlon on 01323 505151 or e-mail [email protected].
