Eastbourne Turns Back the Clock in 700th Year With Spectacular Christmas Light Show
Eastbourne will be celebrating its 700th Christmas this December by turning the Town Hall clock tower into a spectacular Neon Noel historical light show, the first projection of its kind on the south coast.
The magical light and audio show will be projected onto the grade II listed clock tower each evening, turning back the hands of time, alongside a festive programme that includes a brand new Christmas market at the seafront Bandstand.

Celebrating 700 years since the town was awarded a Market Charter by King Edward II, the brand new luminale show is set to delight shoppers, families and visitors with late night shopping and street entertainment, kicking off with Little Christmas on 4 December.

More opportunities to source fabulous festive finds continues from 9 December with the first ever traditional Christmas market at the iconic seafront Bandstand.

The 1930s art deco venue will host a bustling outdoor traditional wooden stall market with the smells and sounds of carols, roasted chestnuts and festive food, plus handmade gifts, stylish decorations, entertainers and a Santas Grotto, all across five days.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said There is nowhere that celebrates Christmas quite like Eastbourne and this brand new light show will be an amazing addition to our growing programme of Christmas events, all culminating in the biggest Christmas Day concert party in Britain. My advice is avoid the crowds in the city and enjoy a relaxing break on the coast with great shopping and festive fun.

Funded by the 2 million Pier fund, and organised by Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, Eastbourne Borough Council and local businesses, the new events are designed to attract new visitors and shoppers to the town in the wake of last years pier fire.

Christina Ewbank, Chief Executive of Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce said This year, Christmas is going to be even more special than usual in Eastbourne. Where better to celebrate Eastbournes 700 years as a market town than on our beautiful bandstand? The market will run for five days and will be packed full of entertainment and goodies to buy for your Christmas shopping. Im told that even Santa will make an appearance at his grotto each day.

She added Plus, we will have our fantastic Neon Noel, Christmas Luminale. Im sworn to secrecy as to what will be on display, but we are going to be doing something that everyone in Eastbourne will be talking about. So if your curious, come down to Little Christmas in Little Chelsea or any day from the 4th to the 13th of December from 4.30pm and see for yourself the Town Hall transformed.

The 5 minute Neon Noel light show, produced by West End Studios and LM Productions, will take place every day from Friday 4th to Sunday 13th December at 4.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm, with temporary road closures each evening.

The Christmas Market runs from 9 13 December at the Bandstand from 10am to 7pm each day.
