Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow sponsors csma (Civil Service Motoring Association) are celebrating their fifth year of sponsorship of the Souths biggest free airshow, with a special racing car display for 2004.

Held from Thursday 12 Sunday 15 August, the free csma Wings & Wheels exhibition on the seafront, includes an exciting display of cars for motoring enthusiasts including Le Mans and Formula 1 racing cars.

Heading the impressive line up will be the Benetton B197 Judd V10, a former F1 car that nowadays races in the EuroBOSS series. Recently driven at the Brands Hatch Classic Festival by teenage race sensation Scott Mansell, the open single seater car delighted fans by breaking the Indy circuit lap record.

Motoring fans can also look forward to full-size replica models of legendary Le Mans endurance racing cars, the Ford GT40 and Porsche 917, two of the greatest cars in the history of sportscar racing. For the family, Laurel & Hardy will be appearing at the display in their authentic Model T Ford and will be entertaining the crowds with their unique humour.

On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy the colourful cavalcade of classic cars starting at 10.30am along the seafront. This year includes a special collection of classic American cars and motorcycles with a Route 66 theme.

Over 70 classic cars and historic vehicles are expected in total and visitors can cheer and photograph the cavalcade at any point along the seafront from the Sovereign Centre to the Western Lawns.

This years Airbourne includes over 80 flying displays over the four days, with one of the most exciting line ups of recent years from the Royal Air Force, and the United States, Belgian and Royal Netherlands Air Forces. The line up includes two F16s, the ever popular Harrier with its spectacular hover, Eastbournes first ever GR4 display from the Tornado and the Red Arrows celebrating their 40th display season.

The RAF Ground Display also returns with the RAF Police Volunteer Dog Display Team and the RAF Regiment Presentation Team both performing in the arena. Visitors can sit in the cockpit of a life size replica Harrier or Hawk jet, visit the Nimrod cockpit and fuselage, or ride the Eurofighter Typhoon simulator.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesman for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said I am delighted that csma are putting on such a stunning motoring display and supporting Airbourne. It is through their continued involvement that we are able to produce the best line up of flying displays anywhere on the South Coast.

Airbourne opens from 10am to 6pm each day followed by evening concerts at the Bandstand, which include the Sunday evening Sunset Ceremony and fireworks finale.
